OUR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

To further engage with the community, the library has also launched several outreach programs. These include an Online Araw ng Pagbasa—an offshoot of the Araw ng Pagbasa activity, which promotes literacy and reading among children and adults during the pandemic. The library also conducts Araw ng Pagbasa gift-giving activity to promote the joy of reading and encourage children of sharing and caring during the Christmas season. Finally, the Tech4Ed sa Barangay initiative brings technology and digital literacy to underserved communities, helping to bridge the digital divide and increase access to information. Overall, these innovative programs demonstrate the city library's commitment to providing convenient and accessible services to its patrons, as well as its dedication to promoting literacy and digital inclusion within the community, embodying the tagline of the city “Alaminos City Para sa Lahat: Ituloy ang Progreso.”

1. Public Library Day: Public Library Day was organized on March 9, 2023, by virtue of Proc. No. 563, S 1959, to recognize the importance of Public Libraries as agencies for the dissemination of knowledge and culture in our country, with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of public libraries and the services they offer. The event aimed to attract students and encouraging them to explore the resources and facilities available at our library. On this day, we arranged a series of engaging activities like Jingle Making Contest for Public and Private Schools. This provided an opportunity for schools to appreciate various forms of art while exploring the library's collection.

Overall, Public Library Day was a success, with a significant increase in footstep and positive feedback from attendees. It served as a reminder of the vital role public libraries play in fostering a culture of reading and intellectual growth in our community.

2. Araw ng Pagbasa: The primary objective of this event was to promote the habit of reading among individuals of all ages, emphasizing its importance in personal and academic development. Leading up to Araw ng Pagbasa, we launched a community-wide reading campaign, storytelling and puppet show. We collaborated with local schools (Pangasinan State University – Alaminos Campus) to encourage everyone to dedicate time to reading. This created a lively and immersive atmosphere, inspiring others to love reading.

Araw ng Pagbasa witnessed a remarkable turnout, with individuals especially children coming together to celebrate the joy of reading. It served as a reminder of the profound impact that literature can have on personal growth and community structure.

3. Arts Program: The library's Arts Program aimed to provide an avenue for artistic expression and creativity within our community especially to the children. This ongoing program encompassed various art forms such as Mosaic Art. To engage the younger generation, we provided art supplies and materials, allowing children to explore their artistic abilities and create their own masterpieces and encouraged children to unleash their creativity and develop a passion for the arts. The Arts Program received overwhelming support from the attendees.

Furthermore, through these programs we can highlight the essential role of libraries in upholding the culture of our beloved city in managing libraries to continuously innovate programs and services even in minimum number of employees in the library.

With the dedication of the library and support of the Local Government Unit of Alaminos City, the City Library will continue to help in building strong and well-educated citizens by providing innovative programs and services that are vital in shaping a better community.
